im coriuos, what’s written on the wall ?
First of All. These are images of the Rijksmuseum and Museumplein. The Rijksmuseum has been housed in the current building designed by architect Pierre Cuypers (1827-1921) since 1885. Viewed from the historic city centre, the museum is imposing and severe looking, viewed from the Museumplein, however, it looks like a fairy-tale castle. The images are from the Museumplein view. Pierre Cuypers build also Central Station and Vondelchurch.
The Rijksmuseum is being in the process of renovation. Much of the original details are restored. This text was hidden all my life and August 2011 I saw it the first time.
The text:
J.A. Alberdingk-Thijm
1841-1889 Katholic poet & writer
There is no use to translate this but more it is an image of the New (original) Rijksmuseum
Of Holland’s Glory in it earliest and youngest past
beam ray by ray through this rich walls
No neighbor that ever has “ontstreen” our history book
that witnesses of a magnitude unmatched to present
From this spot the east and west sludge
To Europe and the old Earth the old law was given
Alongside father’s sun shines our light a spark that dot
On it’s azure ground shaking still from glow and life
Wow..he looked like really proud of his country..is he a famous poet mike?
